The tour’s route is starting to look like a cartoon. We have now looped in and out of Germany no less than 6 times. Don’t get me wrong, the crowds in Germany have all been great, the venues are solid, and people treat you well. This Hamburg show will be our last in Deutschland for the Backstreet Boys tour.
I should mention a huge fire we saw on the way from Düsseldorf to Hamburg on the side of the road. It looked like a big factory had exploded and was billowing black smoke into the air. I hope everybody’s ok, but I imagine we’ll hear about it on the news.
We arrived at the incredible O2 World Arena and settled in, learning that our friend Angelo and some of his employees would be coming to hang out with us backstage. Sometimes it felt like double duty entertaining on stage then coming back to show some people around, but they were fun people and it was nice having them there.
After the show, maybe in preparation for tomorrow’s Amsterdam stop, one of the guys I knew on the crew hooked me up with a little brownie. Yup, that kind. The length of the tour and the stress of the travel eased any hesitation and I’ll never forget walking through the emptied arena feeling good. One of the fans even gave me a kiss on the cheek and I blissfully walked around with the lipstick on my face. I can be so #basic when I’m high!
Afterwards we hit the town to meet Angelo out at the Golden Cut. Sounds a little “Red Light District” to me, but he assured us it was classy. I even had some trouble getting in but I flashed my Backstreet Boys pass and convinced him I was in the group (please note, I tried this everywhere with little luck, including trying to get girls to believe it so they’d talk to my friends).
We had a really good time dancing on their multiple dance floors (Europe knows how to make a dance club) and late some time that night we crowded into a cab which wandered back through Hamburg’s seediest alleys to our hotel.
Ladies and gentlemen, good night!
