There is something very approachable about this place. Maybe it’s the colors. Maybe it’s the nonchalance. Maybe it’s the mix of language, but Barcelona seems friendly. In all my travels, Barcelona is the place where I felt drawn but never got to visit. It is the home of the Sagrada Familia, one of the only monument caliber constructions in the world that has mystery and story in itself. That mystery is different from a building that has fallen or was destroyed. We simply forgot what those buildings were like. This one is just not done. I studied architecture in college and never really got to grasp the gravity of photos in a book. But today I get to feel energy of a place. That put me in a good mood!
Then came the show. With a couple under our belts, we feel more confident than ever before. The stage was a little different tonight without the runway, and the audience was a huge warehouse instead of an arena. Just really cool and really engaged audience. That makes a huge difference on stage! Thank you 🙂
After the set, Wendy (running the show behind the scenes) came and replaced our “Support” sign with a sign that said “The Exchange.” She said we were doing great and earned our name. It was a small gesture but really meant a lot.
For the first time, we waited in our room until the show was almost over and then made our way out to the back of the audience to catch a few people and take some photos if people were into it. We were nearly mobbed! It was crazy but great to feel that people were responding to what we were doing on stage (even after a 2 hour show from the Backstreet Boys).
The next day plan was to drive with the road crew to get to Milan a little early (and catch Maria for as many hours as possible). Our CDs were delivered and after a couple sight-seeing stops, we hit the road.
I WILL be back to Barcelona some day!
